MINOR DETAIL

2027
Summer, 1949.
A year after the war Palestinians call the Nakba, the Catastrophe, and Israelis the War of Independence.

An Israeli officer is ordered to guard the new southern border in the Negev Desert. During a patrol, he and his unit come across a Bedouin camp. The men are killed and a young Palestinian woman is taken prisoner. At the army camp, she is raped, murdered and buried in the desert.
More than seventy years later, a Palestinian researcher in Ramallah discovers archival records documenting the almost forgotten incident. She travels to the scene, searching for the minor details hidden behind the history. What unfolds is an excavation of a horror which has been deliberately buried in time in an attempt to erase an orchestrated act of violence.

A rehearsed reading of the script-in-development will be given on the 7th of November 2026 at Crossing Border Festival in The Hague, The Netherlands, followed by a Q&A with Adania Shibli and the artists.
